CHORALE IN A FLAT
This exercise for Hornline can be performed in your warm-up arc, treating each bar as a fermata, or simply conducting a rubato tempo. Additionally, this exercise is designed to be played in tempo, while marching the "Madison Scouts Block" visual exercise. This exercise will aid your Hornline in the shaping of the music while moving their feet. Attached with the score is the suggested visual "roadmap" for the "Chorale In Ab" played while marching the "Madison Scouts Block". Additionally, double barlines in the music indicate direction changes.

PSA's [Plus Sequence]
This exercise for Hornline can be performed in your warm-up arc while marking time. Additionally, this exercise is designed to be played while marching the “ABBA Block” visual exercise. This exercise will aid your Hornline in timing and articulation while in movement, arriving at an ensemble push. Attached to the score you will find the suggested visual "roadmap" for the "Partial Slurs and Articulation" played while marching the “ABBA Block”. TRAFFIC! Exercise
This exercise for Hornline is specifically written to be marched and played to the marching exercise “Traffic!”. Multiple direction changes, combined with musical technique, expression, and an ensemble push will aid your Hornline in recognizing phrasing in movement. This combined exercise is great for teaching the concept of marching and playing your drill and maximizing that technique. Attached to the score you will find the suggested visual “roadmap” for “Traffic!” while marching and playing. Additionally, double barlines in the music indicate direction changes.
**Addendum: For visual runs only, you can set your members in 2 step intervals across (small ranks of 3 or 4), stepping off from the same/shared start point every 8 counts for the visual “traffic” effect.**

P L A Y I N G E X E R C I S E S
Variation on a CHORALE IN A FLAT
This exercise explores a variation on our warm-up "Chorale In Ab", with tonguing techniques in the brass and extended chords in the woodwinds. Just like "Chorale In Ab", this exercise can be played while marking time in your warmup arc, or while marching the Madison Scouts Block. Please download "Chorale In Ab" for a suggested visual roadmap if you wish to have your ensemble march and play this exercise.
